Get to Know The Sewing Bee Cafe
Welcome to the Sewing Bee Café operated by Debbie Roberts . I offer a friendly and welcoming environment where you can shop for beautiful fabrics, patterns and haberdashery. You will find the kettle is always on so why not stop for a cuppa and a chat. For those who are not local to Baxter, Victoria (just outside Frankston) we can always post goods to you.
Why do we call ourselves a café? Well, we are similar to an internet café except that instead of providing computers for hourly hire, we can provide sewing machines and overlockers for in house hire. Our experience tells us that many want to learn to sew without having the upfront outlay for a machine – it gives people the opportunity to ensure they love sewing and to determine what features they need before committing to an expensive purchase. Our hire rates are reasonable – see our Sew by the Hour tab for more info. Plus we will always be close by if you need a bit of help! If you are not sure where to start or would like to learn a new skill or be inspired, then one of our workshops may be just right for you. We offer a range of workshops in sewing, patchwork and toy making – each workshop will be pitched at a range of experience from ‘absolute beginner’ to ‘almost an expert’. In addition, we will invite special guests to provide workshops from time to time. Please see our workshops tab for current information. We also promote social sewing and offer a range of times where you can sit and stitch with likeminded people and share skills and tips. We have also established a group for those who would like to meet to make gifts to donate to others as a way of giving back to our community.
